Reusable menstrual pads include a waterproof layer, absorb better and are designed to be used during your period.
On the other hand, reusable panty liners are meant for daily usage in case of vaginal discharge and don't include a waterproof layer.

The upper side (against your skin) is always the colorful one with patterns or the beige side (if you chose the unbleached cotton or bamboo variation). To make it even clearer, the side with the label under one of the wings is turned against your panties.

Cloth pads should be washed before the first use. After use, you can choose different washing methods:
• Simplest method: wash the cloth pads in the washing machine with other laundry, without prior soaking or scrubbing stains.
• “Dry” method: rinse the cloth pads under cold water and store them in a dry place until washing, or hang them to dry on a line before washing in a laundry machine.
• “Wet” method (soaking): place used cloth pads in a bucket with cold water. Change the water daily, then wash them with other laundry in the washing machine at 95°C (203°F). To prevent damage, we recommend using a mesh laundry bag.
Cloth panty liners don’t need to be soaked or rinsed beforehand. Simply wash them in the washing machine at 95°C (203°F). For more detailed instructions, click here.
Most wash their cloth pads and panty liners together with the rest of their laundry, but it’s entirely up to your preference.
The key is to rinse or soak the cloth menstrual pads in cold water before washing. Even a short soak (around 15 minutes) is enough to remove most of the blood. After that, choose a wash program that uses plenty of water, such as pre-wash, extra rinse, or increased water level (if your machine allows it), and a high temperature (95°C/203°F or 60°C/140°F).
We do not recommend using fabric softener, as it significantly reduces the absorbency and effectiveness of Racman cloth pads/liners and is harmful to the environment.
The simplest and most natural way to "whiten" is by drying them in the sun. If this is not possible and thorough disinfection is necessary (e.g. due to infection), we recommend oxygen-based bleaches. These contain sodium percarbonate, which breaks down during washing, releasing active oxygen, which whitens and kills microbes, effectively disinfecting the cloth pads and panty liners.
While chlorine-based bleaches are also effective for whitening and disinfecting, they are far more aggressive, harmful to health and the environment, and can damage the fabric.
Unless you have issues with infections, ironing is unnecessary. However, if you have problems with vaginal and bacterial infections or irritation, we recommend ironing the cloth pads/liners at a high temperature. Be careful not to iron over the snap buttons or the bottom (waterproof) layer.
Each body is different, so some women may need 6 cloth pads per cycle, while others might require 20 or more, with most falling somewhere in between. The easiest way to determine the right amount for you is by considering how many disposable menstrual pads you typically use during one cycle. You’ll likely change reusable menstrual pads just as often – every 2 to 6 hours, or as needed.
The same goes for reusable daily panty liners. For everyday use, one cloth panty liner per day is usually sufficient. Our packs of 7 are designed to cover you for the entire week. However, if you experience heavier vaginal discharge, you might need more to ensure you always have a fresh panty liner available.
When deciding, take into account the offered sizes, shapes, absorption levels, and materials of Racman reusable cloth pads. Once you’ve built a sufficient collection, you can enjoy years of use (with proper care and handling).
Money-saving tip: build your collection gradually. Start by purchasing a smaller number of cloth pads/liners, washing them in the evening, and reusing them the next day. Keep in mind, however, that frequent washing will significantly shorten their lifespan.

Bamboo remains significantly softer than cotton after washing and has a longer lifespan. However, it contains 23% polyester, which is why some people prefer the one-color cotton cloth pads or liners made from 100% certified organic cotton.
However, most customers prefer the colorful cloth pads, designed with a soft cotton jersey top layer (95% cotton, 5% elastane) and bamboo fabric for absorbency.
Plain white (unbleached) cloth menstrual pads and daily panty liners may show stains even after washing. While a cloth pad or liner washed at 95°C (203°F) is hygienically clean despite possible stains, many women prefer to choose colorful or patterned cloth pads/liners for this reason.
All Racman reusable menstrual pads with wings feature a waterproof polyurethane coating that is breathable but leak-proof. However, for a truly "dry experience" during menstruation, consider the appropriate cloth pad size for your flow, determine the best time for a pad change, and decide if an additional absorbent pad is needed.
Yes. They can be used for mild urine leakage that may occur during activities like climbing stairs, sneezing, coughing, running, sexual activity, or laughing. Racman reusable cloth pads are made from skin-friendly materials and feature a breathable waterproof layer, which is particularly important for those who use them daily. We recommend choosing cloth pads made from bamboo, as it is a highly absorbent material with antifungal and antibacterial properties, helping to prevent unpleasant odors.
Yes. We suggest choosing pads in sizes L or XL.
Yes. Racman washable menstrual pads are highly absorbent. We recommend the 'Heavy Days' set or the set of 6 cloth pads (sizes L and XL).
Small washable menstrual pads (S) are recommended for light bleeding, as they have a waterproof layer:
• for light menstrual flow or the final days of your period;
• for added protection when using a menstrual cup or menstrual disc.
Washable daily panty liners (which do not have a waterproof layer) are ideal for:
• during ovulation, when many women experience increased vaginal discharge;
• protecting your underwear after sexual activity;
• during physical activity and times of intense sweating;
• while using vaginally administered medications (e.g., antifungal tablets);
• white vaginal discharge, providing a feeling of dryness and cleanliness;
• light spotting between cycles, that doesn't require heavy protection.
Please email is at info@racman.eu to ask about your preferred sizes and patterns. We will do our best to accommodate your request. Our goal is to ensure you receive the perfect set tailored to your needs.
Yes! Racman reusable menstrual pads and daily panty liners are highly absorbent yet thinner than most disposable pads, and even thinner than many other reusable options. They are tailored to your body's anatomy to provide maximum comfort during your period or everyday use. Made from soft, breathable materials, they are gentle to your sensitive intimate area. They do not contain harmful chemicals, won’t dry out your mucous membrane or cause toxic shock syndrome. The cloth menstrual pads have a sewn in waterproof layer, that won’t make any noise while worn.
First, check if you've chosen the right underwear to pair with the cloth pad or liner. Believe it or not, there are more and less suitable types of underwear. A narrower gusset (where the pad/liner is placed) is more suitable, while those with a wider gusset are less ideal. Underwear with gusset width around 6 cm works best.
If your favorite underwear is not the perfect match for Racman cloth menstrual pads and daily panty liners, don't worry! Take a look at our wing extension for adjustable fit.
No, if they are changed frequently enough. The fabric of reusable menstrual pads and panty liners is breathable, allowing moisture to evaporate, which reduces the likelihood of bacteria growth and unpleasant odors. They will keep you feeling dry until the fabric reaches full capacity and it’s time to change it.
If you notice a strong or unpleasant smell, it might be due to a vaginal yeast infection. Such infections are particularly common among women who use disposable pads and tampons. These products are often made of synthetic materials that create a damp, sweaty environment during menstruation – ideal conditions for bacteria growth and odor.

Products with the GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certification must meet the following criteria:
• A product labeled as "organic" must contain at least 95% organically grown material.
• Organic textile production must be strictly separated from conventional production to avoid contamination during manufacturing.
• The use of dyes and other fabric stabilizers is strictly regulated and must comply with toxicity and biodegradability requirements.
• The addition of heavy metals, formaldehyde, and genetically modified ingredients is prohibited.
• Additives used in organic cotton products cannot contain plastic elements, PVC, nickel, or chromium.
• Wastewater from processing must be treated in cleaning systems.
• All organic fabric producers and processors must meet social standards.
• GOTS checks the quality level through both on-site inspections at production locations and testing of products for residual prohibited substances.
GOTS Standards Overview
Goals:
The goal of GOTS standards is to define globally recognized requirements that ensure the status of a product as organic – from harvest through environmentally and socially responsible processing, all the way to labeling and providing consumers with product authenticity.
Criteria:
To ensure clear and unambiguous understanding, GOTS focuses solely on mandatory criteria. The standard applies to the production of fibers, yarns, fabrics, and garments, covering cultivation, processing, production, packaging, labeling, export, import, and distribution of all natural textile products. Leather products are not covered by this standard.
Production:
• The dual-level labeling requires more than 95% organic content (for "organic" label) or more than 70% organic content (for "xx% organic" label).
• Certification is granted based on recognized international or national standards (e.g., EEC 2092/91, USDA NOP).
• Certification of fibers from the transitional period of organic cultivation is possible under strict limitations.
• The organization granting the organic certification must be internationally recognized.
Processing:
• Throughout all processing stages, organic textiles must be separated from conventional textile production (this must be clearly identified).
• The addition of chemicals (e.g., dyes, stabilizers, and production chemicals) must be controlled, and the substances must meet toxicity and biodegradability requirements.
• The use of critical additives such as toxic heavy metals, formaldehyde, and genetically modified substances is strictly prohibited.
• Limits are imposed on additives (e.g., no PVC, nickel, or chromium, no plastic elements or inlays).
• Wastewater from processing must be treated in treatment plants.
• All processors must comply with social standards as prescribed by ILO norms.
Quality Assurance System:
GOTS verifies quality through a dual approach, which includes on-site inspections at the production facilities and testing products for residues of prohibited substances. The entire processing chain is evaluated.
• All producers and processors in the chain (from seed to garment, including import and export) undergo a cycle of annual inspections.
• Those granting the certification must have official authorization to do so.
Testing for Residues of Prohibited Substances:
• Guideline values for residues are defined in the standard.
• Licensed manufacturers must submit their samples for testing to assess contamination levels.
• The samples are collected by specialized inspectors. The analysis of the samples is performed in laboratories authorized by ISO.
Key Elements of the Inspection Process
Generally, companies seeking the GOTS certification must operate in compliance with the criteria established by the standard. Authorized inspectors perform specific inspection methods, which may include the following:
• Quantitative calculations of the flow of organic products,
• Assessment of the separation between organic and non-organic processing and identification systems,
• Verification of all chemical additions during processing, including preparation, dyeing, and finishing processes, based on safety data,
• Inspection of the handling of wastewater generated during processing,
• Inspection of compliance with social standards (confidential conversations with employees, physical inspection of the production process, and review of relevant documentation).
Product Labeling:
GOTS-certified products are labeled with the official GOTS logo. In addition to the GOTS logo, products may also carry the "Organic" label (only for products that contain 95% or more organic content and less than 5% synthetic ingredients).

The initial cost of purchasing Racman reusable cloth pads and daily panty liners is indeed higher compared to disposable menstrual pads, as they are handmade using the highest-quality materials. However, think of it as a long-term investment: once you build a sufficient stock of reusable sanitary towels, you’ll no longer have recurring costs for menstrual protection.
To minimize the upfront expense, consider starting with just a few reusable cloth pads/liners. Wash and reuse them more frequently during your cycle. You can build up your collection of reusable sanitary towels gradually, making the transition more affordable and manageable over time.
Using reusable menstrual pads at school, work, or while traveling is easier than you might think. Except for washing, the routine is quite similar to using disposable menstrual pads. All you need is a waterproof bag or toiletry bag to store enough cloth pads for the time you’ll be away from home. It's even easier with the cloth panty liners (for daily use), as they don’t involve handling menstrual blood. When you return, wash them as usual.
Tip: If you're away for an extended period (e.g. on vacation), you can bring a smaller number of cloth sanitary pads/liners and wash, dry, and reuse them as needed. This will also help to reduce the amount of luggage you need to carry.
Racman reusable menstrual pads and panty liners are thinner and more comfortable than many disposable pads/liners and even most other reusable cloth pads. Unless you’re wearing extremely tight clothing, there’s no reason to worry – your secret is completely safe!
It’s generally not advisable to swim while wearing menstrual pads. However, you can swim worry-free by using a menstrual cup or menstrual disc instead.
